An investigation into the profile of entrants to concurrent (post-primary) initial teacher education in Ireland, 2009–2020

In recent times, Ireland’s post-primary schools have experienced considerable social, cultural, economic and technological change. As a result newly qualified teachers are entering an increasingly diverse rapidly changing school environment. Studies indicate diversity gap between the profile of pupils, in schools; whereby homogenous population teachers, teach heterogeneous students. Consequently, efforts been made to better understand diversity, profile, those teaching profession. This paper contributes this body knowledge, through investigation entrants concurrent (post-primary) initial teacher education programmes (ITE) Ireland 2009–2020.
